Did I hear that right, Roenick said 1 game for Torres??? That's a dangerous hit any way you cut it. Unlike Brown on Henrik, that was a good hard check, shoulder first, just like Roenick explained. It may be half a second late, but really, it's a clean hit, Henrik was head down and in trouble.

Back to Torres, he plays over the edge and needs to get disciplined and change his play or he's gone.

It was, your ideas are well formed and well written.

I really don't like the idea of getting rid of the instigator tho

Thanks, and that is OK, they are just suggestions at this point, because the current setup is clearly not working.

I'm going to say what I said here, then. Ultimately, I think your panel idea is what they need to get at, but not right away. If you want to eliminate this sort of BS from the game, you don't just need to "clean things up", you need a purging. That's where the NFL idea comes in. You need a guy that comes in and cleans house, establishes almost a zero tolerance policy. Now, the almost inevitable result will be that punishments will most likely be too severe. People will start to think that this is getting too ridiculous. However, the idea is to get players to think twice before they start the BS that has been going on. The risk is that players will be afraid of initiating contact at all for fear of getting suspended.

Once you get to the point that this thing is cleaned up, that's where you establish a panel. The punishments will be less severe as they will be weighed more on a case-by-case basis. However, you will still have that message engrained that this isn't a "good old boys" club anymore. The benefit of the doubt will be a lot less easy to obtain.

Umm, no.

Torres didn't even get a penalty on the play, it was not all that bad. Neal's blatant head hunting was way worse and he only got 1.

Not getting a penalty means F/A, especially in the playoffs... the fact he was airborne when he made contact as well as late was what made it dirty

hit wasnt that late IMO, i feel the rest of the hit was not good in any which way, but to say it was .85 seconds late or whatever mckenzie said is lame, Hossa was stick handling and he LOST THE PUCK - he was just stupid enough to watch the puck go away from him as Torres smoked him.

they may say the hit was late but .8 seconds is F/A when in real time, especially in playoffs.

I also thought the hit last year that Rome laid wasnt that late, but he got 4 games so who knows. (time wise they were about the exact same, difference being hossa was all up his ass and watched the puck roll off the end of his stick and then got hammered.

lesson for the kids, KEEP YOUR HEAD UP. - he would have been fine if he braced himself.

Schenn let his feet Sunday while lambasting Martin but no suspension was handed out......just a throat shot from AssHam.
Torres is a d0uche but that his was just not that bad.

Torres has been suspended indefinitely pending a hearing Friday

Meaning he'll miss at least one game
